And the winner is.........

Nathan Spunda wins top honors in the first Photo Challenge.
"This was a beautiful collection of artful images, which made the viewer desire to know more about each of the subjects. This is what good photojournalism is about," said Michael Mercanti (Philadelphia Daily News Executive Photography Editor). Below is a sample of his take from last Friday's challenge.

Mercanti on Lisa's work: The driver in the jeep photo is a wonderful found photo that just makes you smile. Even with just showing the subject’s leg, the viewer reacts in an emotional way and almost instinctively recreates the unseen parts of the picture.

Audacity is one of the most widely-used applications for music and audio production. It works across multiple platforms, gives access to premium audio editing tools, and enables the user to output to a variety of file types. Oh, and did I mention it’s free? In this 60 minute seminar you will examine the interface of Audacity and learn some basic editing tools, such as cutting out mistakes and applying reverb to a track. See the power of open source programming firsthand!

Photo Challenge



The first Photo Challenge will be held Friday, October 9th.
NOTE: All students need to bring their digital cameras to class. The challenge is to make Feature images and return to class in one hour.
Images will be judged by the follow criteria: technical execution, story content, and creative ability.
Each area will be scored on a scale of 1 to 10. (10 being the highest)
The highest score for one image is 30 points.
The most points wins the challenge.
Images made before 11am Friday, October 9, 2009 are not permitted.
Images made after the one-hour time limit will not be counted.
Planning is permitted.
